How Detecting Pool Equipment Issues Early Saves Money

It’s no secret that swimming pool ownership can get expensive. Yes, it adds value to your home, and it is nice to be able to go swimming whenever you want, but you have to make sure that the pool stays in good condition and that all of your equipment is working properly.

Detect Water Heater Problems Early

As with anything else you own, it’s much easier and more affordable to fix your pool equipment when you detect problems early, before they get out of hand. For example, you might have a heater that isn’t working quite as well as it used to. It might still keep your water at a comfortable temperature, but it might take longer to reach the temperatures you like.

It may be tempting to put off fixing it to save money, but that might lead to a catastrophic breakdown that will be next to impossible to repair. You will need to buy a whole new heater when you could’ve simply addressed the minor issue for a fraction of the cost.

Schedule Regular Maintenance

New pool equipment can cost thousands of dollars, so it makes sense that you want to keep your current equipment in good shape. This means being able to detect and fix minor problems as they arise. The best way to do this is to have your pool and equipment cleaned, serviced, and inspected regularly. Schedule a thorough inspection every two months during the main swimming season, and make sure to properly winterize your pool and your equipment when you close it down for the winter.

Watch for Warning Signs

Next, be on the lookout for signs of trouble with your pool and equipment. Listen for strange sounds coming from your water pump, closely monitor chlorine levels in the pool, and keep an eye out for any changes in the water level. If it looks like you’re losing water in your pool, have it checked for leaks. Finally, pay attention to any serious changes in the water’s temperature. Temperature changes in an outdoor pool will obviously happen, but a major change could be a sign that your heater isn’t working properly.

If you suspect that there’s anything wrong with your pool or equipment, don’t wait until something breaks down to have it repaired or replaced. Doing so can cost you thousands of dollars and leave you without a functional swimming pool. Instead of waiting for something catastrophic to happen, call The Pool Company in River Vale, NJ for your pool equipment services.
